FAQs

What is food insecurity?

Students facing food insecurity have inconsistent access to food because of limited resources.

How many students are affected at USA?

According to a SGA survey conducted in 2016, an estimated 57% of USA students  have experienced food insecurity at some point in their careers.

What resources are available to help these students?

The USA food pantry is located in the Academic Services Center. Meal vouchers from the Jags4Jags program are distributed to deserving students by the Dean of Students Office and can be redeemed in the university dining hall.

Community food banks and the SNAP program are available to qualifying students. We can help students apply for access to these resources, but these are not university organized initiatives.

What can I do to help?

Those who want to help these students can volunteer with us, donate to the pantry or other events (see "Pantry" tab for suggested donations), organize a food drive benefiting the pantry,  or increase awareness of collegiate hunger through social media.  Food items and monetary donations are accepted. For more information see our donation page (https://usadonortodiner.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_20.html) or contact usadonortodiner@gmail.com with any questions. Our home page and social media pages will include updates on upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
